    Sunday, August 19, 2012 6:15 am

"I'm quite new to this whole press package," admits British actor Tom Weston-Jones, conducting an interview on a bustling street with buses and foot traffic zipping by rather than talking indoors, where a party's noise level is not much better.

  • article Letter: Seeking the ‘good ol’ shows’ on TV

    Tuesday, February 5, 2013 6:58 pm

Kudos to Mr. Temple of Mesa regarding his Feb. letter: “What’s On TV?”. He says it as it should be said. You want quality shows, watch “ME-TV” or the “ANTENNA CHANNEL”. The good ol’ shows.

  • article Letter: Man up, Mark Kelly

    Monday, March 18, 2013 8:01 am

Now I realize why the Democrats and Hollywood have such a close affiliation: It’s all about portraying their acting skills as demonstrated by Mark Kelly, apparently boo-hooing on Gabby Gifford’s shoulder at a gun control demonstration (last week).

  • article Letter: Tribune superior to competition

    Thursday, November 8, 2012 5:38 pm

After subscribing to the Tribune and its Valley and national competitors for many years, I can honestly say the Tribune, for its size, is proportionately superior in content and the technical online services. The competitor’s $28.50 + tip/month for printed and online service; the Tribune, gratis.

  • article Letter: Border agent's death brings only silence

    Agent’s death brings only silence

  • article Letter: Negative back-and-forth expected

    Friday, May 3, 2013 12:01 pm

I find it so routine, the negative comments regarding the recent “Mirandizing” letter to the editor. The comments as to which TV news reporting agency is the most biased is a banal and moot point which will never be put to rest. As are the comments about watching Law & Order, et al. Those readers have missed the issue; why isn’t the ‘suspected’ bomber being adjudicated as a terrorist instead of a poor Islamic refugee who enjoys blowing up his fellow citizens in the name of Allah? And yes, the shoe bomber was 2001; and again the issue was missed. That of, “Did the government learn nothing from it?” I sense people suffering political shame.

  • article Letter: GOP leaders are why the party is suffering

    Friday, April 19, 2013 12:12 pm

Republican Sens. McCain and Flake have become prime examples of why Republicans are suffering from the “why bother” syndrome when it comes to voting and reason for the GOP going down the tubes. We elect them to represent ‘we the people’ and our principles and what do they do? ‘Turn-tail’ and take the most lucrative way out. Back to ‘what’s good for me’, not for the U. S. of A.

  • article Letter: Arizona needs ‘Stupid Hiker/Camper Law’

    Friday, February 22, 2013 6:58 pm

Arizona has the ‘Stupid Motorist Law’ for people who continue to challenge the forces of nature with their vehicles. It’s about time we had the ‘Stupid Hiker/Camper Law’ for those who think they can outwit nature/happenstance with their personal abilities. These folks are obviously lacking in common sense and make themselves a liability to the tax payer. I sincerely hope (these people are) held accountable and made to pay monetarily for their ‘stupid’ indiscretions.

  • article Letter: Justice was not served in Arredondo case

    Saturday, January 26, 2013 1:46 pm

Now is the time to put U.S. District Court Judge Frederick Martone away. He certainly didn’t serve out any punitive solution to Arredondo’s corruption conviction; in fact, Martone became part of the problem with his slap-on-the-hand sentencing of Arredondo. Martone exemplified just how deep the talons of corruption reach into government these days. A continuing saga, and yet another blatantly racist decision by a Federal official in a position of authority.

  • article Letter: Obama swearing in just part of political agenda

    Friday, January 18, 2013 10:11 am

Could it be there is a politico agenda regards the President’s White House ‘private’ swearing in, Sunday the 20th, and it not being held at the Capitol? The Constitution dictates the President is to be sworn in on the 20th of January which falls on a Sunday this year. Since there is to be no connection between “church” & “state”, could it be the public ceremony at the Capitol, planned for the 21st, Martin Luther King Day, is part of a hidden agenda? Sure smells that way.

  • article Letter: Venter missed the point on ‘Beaver’

    Friday, November 2, 2012 4:14 pm

A couple things to address: First, the Venter who disagrees with the wholesomeness of “Leave It To Beaver,” et al, obviously doesn’t get the moral of the story.

  • article Letter: Lawmakers blind on texting while driving issues

    Saturday, April 6, 2013 8:29 am

  • article Letter: ‘Monopoly’ donating money of ‘entrapped’ clients

    Tuesday, January 8, 2013 12:40 pm

That’s ‘YOUR’ money their donating folks and I, as a Salt River client and entrapped customer of a monopoly, am insulted by it. Personally, I wouldn’t give two cents to attend a Super Bowl game, but that’s besides the point. The City of Glendale has trickled away millions of $’s of their tax payers hard earned monies on sporting events and venues, unfortunately that’s their problem. But I sure don’t relish the fact that a public utility is using my hard-earned cash to help finance a sporting event supported by a minority of the utility’s paying customers. Next time SRP wants to raise it’s rates, give a second thought to where the money may be spent. Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with a SRP executive being on the Super Bowl Committee?

  • article Letter: Release of hundreds of illegal immigrants short sighted

    Thursday, March 7, 2013 8:11 am

Being in agreement with Gov. Brewer’s complaint of the Fed’s release of (illegal immigrants) into our society, may I suggest that the next batch from Arizona be loaded onto Sheriff Joe’s new bus, driven to D.C. and planted on the White House lawn for ‘Oby’ to look after, as apparently he thinks so much of them. Maybe he’ll realize there’s something wrong with his idea when the girls’ bikes are missing in the morning.

  • article Letter: Hey media, don’t complain and then tell us it’s news

    Tuesday, October 9, 2012 5:01 pm

Someone tell me if I’m not reasoning properly here; I just viewed the 9 p.m. news on FOX-10 where one of the stories had to do with Sandusky’s recording of riotousness and innocence sent from his cell in ‘Stalag 17.’ The two newscasters were both complaining about reporting the story, thinking they had heard the last of Sandusky. Correct me if I’m wrong but, aren’t the folks who report the news, (media), responsible for it’s content and presentation? I’ll bet there isn’t one viewer who was the least bit interested in Sandusky’s boo-hooing nor the report of Jordan Van Der Sloot effectively sewing his oats in a Peruvian prison.
