The Tribune Girls Soccer Player of the Year is Ashley Hatch of Highland, who led the Hawks to the Division I state championship.
Nervous? Absolutely.
For more than 50 minutes there was more than a little nervousness in the stands and on the field for No. 3-seeded Highland in its Division I girls soccer first-round match.

Division I Girls Soccer State Championship
There is no doubt what the Desert Vista girls soccer team is shooting for this season.
Highland hopes it gets another shot at Pinnacle in the girls soccer state tournament.
It's said that no one likes to settle a soccer game with a penalty kick shootout. Least of all in the state championship.
For any other squad – a less-experienced or certainly less-tenacious one – an unfulfilling half of soccer could derail a season.
Tempe held on to upset No. 2 Chandler Seton Catholic 69-66 on the Sentinels' home floor in a 4A-II East Sky Region game Wednesday.

2012 Girls Soccer State Tournament Semifinals
Highland scored three goals in the second half to defeat host Dobson 3-1 in a 5A-I Central Region girls soccer game Wednesday.
Scottsdale Christian's boys basketball team moved on to the championship game of the Horizon Invitational with a 62-31 win over Phoenix Shadow Mountain on Friday at Horizon High School in Scottsdale. Hayden Johnson had a monster game for the Eagles with 22 points, six rebounds, four steals, five blocks and seven assists. John Irvine added 15 points for Scottsdale Christian.
