Jazz Violinist Aaron Weinstein is photographed in New York March 11, 2006. Jazz violinists remain a rare commodity even though the instrument has been heard on jazz recordings dating back to the 1920s. What makes Weinstein even more unique is that he doesn't play contemporary jazz but prefers the swing style of the 1930s and '40s, drawing inspiration from the first prominent jazz violinists Joe Venuti and Stephane Grappelli.

Aaron was struck and killed by a motorist Friday as he was crossing Arizona Avenue on his bike near Knox Avenue.
