Cards notebook: Boldin back, 3 others hurting
Mike Tulumello, Tribune
Anquan Boldin appears to be heading back to the field for the Cardinals, but Karlos Dansby and Aaron Francisco are headed for the training room.

The Cardinals also are awaiting news on quarterback Kurt Warner’s left (non-throwing) elbow. Warner believes he has ligament damage, but hinted he thinks he might not miss much action because the bye week follows Sunday’s game at Washington.
“The biggest issue Kurt is going to have, other than the pain issue ... is squeezing the ball, being able to hold it,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday.
As for Boldin — who has missed the past three games with a hip injury — Whisenhunt expects the Pro Bowl receiver to start practicing Wednesday.
Boldin worked out before Sunday’s game vs. Carolina and said, “It was the first time I was able to explode and run routes.”
His hip felt OK Monday, so he expects to try to practice Wednesday.
While the offense will get a boost from Boldin’s return, the defense will have to cope with the loss of Francisco, the team’s top backup safety and a special teams regular, and possibly linebacker Dansby.
Dansby suffered a left knee injury Sunday vs. Carolina. He was awaiting MRI results Monday afternoon, while saying he suspects he suffered an MCL sprain, which can be about a two-week injury.
That would sideline him for at least the Redskins game.
“The bye week is coming at the perfect time,” Dansby said.
In Dansby’s absence Sunday, backup Monte Beisel “stepped in and did a good job for us,” Whisenhunt said.
Francisco said he suffered an MCL tear of his right knee and will be out “three or four weeks.”
Tests revealed no ACL tear, Francisco said, and he won’t need surgery.
Then there’s Adrian Wilson.
He suffered a hamstring strain during the impressive play where he chased down DeAngelo Williams — from way behind — on the running back’s 75-yard game-breaking run for Carolina.
But Whisenhunt indicated he didn’t think the problem would be serious.
FITZ’S FUMBLES
The Cardinals are scratching their heads at Larry Fitzgerald’s fumbling problems this season.
He lost his third fumble this season early in their loss to Carolina Sunday.
“Larry said he’s never fumbled before,” Whisenhunt said. After Sunday’s fumble, “It kind of raises your eyebrows a little bit ... it makes you worry.”
This is the type of problem that can be addressed, he indicated. But the bottom line:
“We can’t put the ball on the ground like that.”
