Deputies arrest 4 fans during D-Backs game
Daryl James, Tribune
Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies arrested four men Thursday night on suspicion of disorderly conduct during the Arizona Diamondbacks playoffs game with the Colorado Rockies.
Deputy Doug Matteson said all four were involved in a disturbance during the seventh inning at Chase Field in Phoenix, when fans jeered an umpire’s call that went against the Diamondbacks. Fans threw plastic water bottles onto the field, and the game was delayed for several minutes.
Matteson did not have immediate information about whether or not the four men arrested had thrown water bottles. He said Kyle Walker, Celso Mijares and Reyes Huerta were involved in a fight during the seventh inning.
Matteson said a fourth suspect, Kevin Seller, was involved in a different fight.
The Diamondbacks lost the game, 5-1, and fell behind the Rockies 1-0 in the first game of the best-of-seven National League Championship Series. The second game in the series is tonight at Chase Field.
