A thief who pose as a Mesa employee is responsible for a series of burglaries in a west Mesa retirement community, police said.
The crimes have occurred from late September to early October and have targeted people living in a 55-and-over trailer park near Center Street and McKellips Road, police said.
On Sept. 22 and Oct. 1, a man posing as a Mesa pest control worker offered free services as a ruse to get into homes and burglarize them, police said. Not everyone fell for the scam, but police are still concerned.
Police have received two suspect descriptions and have not yet determined if the crimes involve more than one thief.
One thief is described as white, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, 25 to 35 years old with a beard. He has been seen wearing a baseball hat, white and gray striped shirt and carrying what looks like a small bug spray canister.
He was last seen driving a newer model white Chevrolet truck with a camper shell. The truck had orange and yellow coloring on it.
The other man is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 9 inches, in his late 20s with a husky build and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with white stripes with the name “Eric” possibly embroidered on the front.
Police ask anyone with information to call (480) 644-2211.
