“By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them: One Woman’s Journey of Faith with God and her Church” is theme of a talk by Catholic writer and lecturer Edwina Gateley at 7 p.m. June 10 at CrossRoads United Methodist Church, 7901 N. Central Ave., Phoenix. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments and prayer.
The international lecturer and lay minister had previously scheduled an eight-day retreat early this month at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Paradise Valley, but she declined to go forward with it when she was informed by the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix that her remarks would have to be taped and reviewed to ensure they were consistent with Catholic teaching.
The Friends of Edwina, along with Arizona Call to Action and the Arizona Center for Theological Studies, collaborated to schedule an alternative appearance and raise funds to offset what she otherwise would have earn at the women’s retreat. A $10 donation is requested at the door. For more information, call (480) 970-4288.
