Attorney General Terry Goddard and Arizona State University are alerting residents in several East Valley cities about a door-to-door sales scam that’s selling fake magazine subscriptions.
ASU has received several complaints since March regarding the scam, which involves young adults visiting homes in Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa and Fountain Hills.
The salesmen identify themselves as students from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and ask residents to write checks to Integrity PGM. Associate Dean Frederic Leigh said the Cronkite school has no connection with the magazine sales scam, and that the salesmen aren’t believed to be ASU students.
Anyone who feels that he or she has been a victim of fraud should contact the Attorney General’s Office at (602) 542-5763.
