Scottsdale SWAT officers on Tuesday arrested five people at a home, seizing Valium, marijuana, cash, a shotgun and a “fair amount” of the painkiller Oxycodone.
Police executed a search warrant about 6:30 a.m. at a small, brick ranch house at 2529 N. 86th St. Mickey Maloney, 24, Edward Ballinger, 22, Andrew Maxson, 21, Jami Wernick, 22, and Christine Mount, 21, were arrested on suspicion of drug-related offenses, according to police.
The five were taken into custody without incident, said Scottsdale police Sgt. Dennis Gordon.
“It appears that one of the men was selling the drugs and the rest were using it,” Gordon said. “We don’t know if he was selling it out of the house, but we’re still investigating.”
Drug paraphernalia was found throughout the home, Gordon said.
Officers began investigating the home about a month ago after receiving a tip.
Beverly Hall, who lives across the street from the home where the arrests were made, described the occupants as “college-aged,” and said she saw a lot of traffic coming and going from the home.
Hall said the residents of the raided house were polite when she would see them.
There really haven’t been any problems in the neighborhood, “just little things,” said Hall, who has lived on the street for 46 years.
She said a $10 check was stolen out of her mailbox two weeks ago that was supposed to be mailed to her great grandson.
