The Scottsdale Unified School District is in the process of firing a substitute teacher and athletic coach at Saguaro High School who is accused of inappropriately touching a student during a massage.
Additionally, police and school officials said today they are investigating whether there are other students who went to Tom Porras’ home for massages. Scottsdale school administrators said it is against school policy for students to be at teachers’ homes.
Police arrested Porras on campus Thursday on suspicion of sex abuse and public sexual indecency after a school resource officer was notified about the incident by a staff member at the school.
A teenager at the school told police that Porras, an assistant track and football coach and former professional football player, that he inappropriately touched her while she was at his house for an “athletic massage.” “We are concerned that there are other victims, but at this time, no other victims have been identified,” said Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark.
