This is one of the easiest stories to write because when the subject is great, the writing is simple.
I met the owners of the Fishin’ Hole before it opened. They took an old steak house and bar and converted it to a friendly fish restaurant. The owners are young people from the South.
Southern fried catfish is my favorite. It is hard to find good stuff like Grandma made: tender fish fillets with a great cornmeal batter. Then, of course, they have cod and shrimp.
Amy MacPhee is my favorite waitress. Todd Michael and his wife, Tysa Michael, are hardworking owners that make every person feel at home.
If you are not really wild about fish, then you must go to enjoy the best ribs in town. The price is right, and the ribs are cooked all day so that they just fall off the bone. The barbecue sauce is great.
We take all our friends there when they come to town or just if they have never been there. Most of the time, I eat there once a week because the fish is right fresh and I don’t have to catch it.
They now have a liquor license so you can imbibe while you eat or just visit.
I never feel rushed but certainly feel welcome at the Fishin’ Hole, which is on the north side of Main Street just about a block or two east of Power Road. It’s worth the drive and worth the money.
Tell them Don Farley sent you.
