A Canada-based builder plans to build nearly 250 homes in the Queen Creek area as part of its expansion into the Valley.

Mattamy Homes will break ground on model homes in the next 10 days with plans to begin selling within the next three months, Phoenix Division President Mark McHone said Tuesday.

Aimed at first-time and move-up home buyers, the homes will range in size from 1,850 square feet to 3,025 square feet. Pricing has not yet been set.

The homes will sit in two subdivisions, collectively known as Mattamy at Circle Cross Ranch, near where Gary Road and Hunt Highway meet.

Founded in 1977, Mattamy builds about 4,500 homes a year and has expanded into several metropolitan areas in the United States in recent years.
