Jefferson Todd is a wedding photographer for the iPod generation.
No longer content to provide newlyweds with just an album with their favorite photos, the Chandler-based photographer is offering techoriented couples slide shows that display their wedding images on the latest video iPod developed by Apple Computer.
Also he posts the photos in the iTunes online music store so friends and family members can view the images for free on their computers or iPods.
Todd calls his service, launched Dec. 30, the iDo iPods Set, and he hopes it will attract trendy couples with a flare for latest gee-whiz technology.
"My orientation is to people who are younger and know about iPods," he said.
Todd, 24, said he was the first wedding photographer to list his pictures in iTunes.
But the service isn’t cheap. Todd charges $1,100 for the package, which is in addition to his regular wedding fee that starts at $2,900.
For the additional amount, Todd provides the couple with two 30-gigabyte iPods, one for the bride and one for the groom, each engraved with their names and the date of the wedding, with 40 to 50 of the best wedding photos loaded in the hand-held devices.
Finally, lower-resolution proof images of all of the pictures that he takes on the wedding day, which can be 1,000 or more, are later added to the two iPods, a service he calls PodProofing.
The slide shows and proof images can also be viewed on any television monitor that is connected to the iPod.
For those who already own an iPod, Todd offers the music store and PodProofing-only services for $500.
One of the first to take advantage was Dustin Hanson, a recent Arizona State University graduate whose engagement and marriage to his wife, Shannon, was recorded by Todd in November. Hanson said it has been a fun and an unusual way to show the pictures to friends. "It makes it really easy to go online and to download and check out the pictures, especially for family members who weren’t able to be there," he said.
As for the price, he said it was worthwhile to be on the cutting edge of technology. "It’s brand new," he said. "I got lucky and caught (Todd) when he was just getting started." More information is available at www.jeffersontodd.com.
