The Chandler Fire Department will collect donations of holiday toys for local children on Dec. 9 and 12.

Between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Dec. 9, anyone who brings a new, unwrapped toy to Tumbleweed Recreation Center, 745 E. Germann Road, will receive a ride in a Chandler fire engine. A second event is planned for 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Chandler Fashion Center.

From Dec. 1-15, anyone who can't make either of the collection events but would still like to donate can bring toys to collection boxes in the lobbies of the Tumbleweed Recreation Center and the Fire Administration Headquarters, 151 E. Boston St.

The toy donations will be given to the Chandler Unified School District for distribution to disadvantaged children.
