Highland's Webster wins 599th game

Gilbert Highland's girls used balanced scoring to present coach Miner Webster with his 599th career victory Tuesday, a 51-14 rout of Phoenix Betty Fairfax on the second day of the annual Highland Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament at Highland High.

Webster can notch win No. 600 Wednesday night if the Hawks can knock off Tucson High as pool play in the tournament continues. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Highland bolted to a 44-10 lead at halftime. Haley Vennard was the only Highland player in double figures, finishing with 10 points. Shannon Jacobs and Jenay Locke added eight points each.
