Thousands expected for Parade of Lights

More than 12,000 people are expected to turn out for Chandler's annual Parade of Lights and the lighting of thecity's traditional Tumbleweed Tree on Dec. 5.

The festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with entertainment, music, and activities for children in Dr. A.J. Chandler Park downtown, at Buffalo Street and Arizona Avenue.

The parade begins at 7 p.m. and features 51 entries, including 23 floats.

Immediately following the parade, the city will light its 53rd Tumbleweed Tree.

Arizona Avenue will be closed for the event between Chandler Boulevard and Frye Road, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Several other smaller streets in the downtown area will also be closed or restricted during the festivities.
