Jumpstreet springs into play in Chandler

Arizona’s first and only indoor trampoline park made its debut last week in Chandler.

Jumpstreet, a huge 26,000-square-foot colorful warehouse has been filled with 13,000 square feet of trampolines and trampoline dodge ball courts. The other 13,000 square feet has tables and chairs, a snack bar and inflatables for children.

“Arizona needed a place to play that is active and fun,” said Manda Minson, marketing manager. “It’s also a great workout and you don’t even know it.”

Jumpstreet began about two years ago after owners Martin Brooks and Tim Crawford came across a similar, smaller trampoline location in Las Vegas. After developing a more upscale idea, the duo began in Littleton, Colo. The idea took off quickly, expanding with sites in Thorton, Colo., and Arizona.

“We’re hoping to open another location in Arizona in the next six to eight months,” said Minson. “It’s taken off really well.”

Possible future locations include north Phoenix, north Scottsdale and the West Valley, areas where there are a lot of kids and a lot of schools. Before expanding to other locations, Jumpstreet is looking to fill an open space with a James Bond-like laser area that involves dodging and dashing.

Kids often descend upon Jumpstreet after getting out of school, and parents have trouble getting them home.

“My son comes in here almost every time I’m here,” said Minson. “They’re red in the face and sweaty when they’re done, but they don’t want to leave.”

Jumpstreet does require that customers sign a waiver. For parents worried about potential broken bones, Minson assures that everyone is safe.

“Everything’s padded, there’s netting, there are no open springs and all the carpet around the trampolines is padded too,” said Minson. “We also have team members that are bouncers to ensure everyone is playing safely.”

Jumpstreet encourages customers to jump to their own ability, and promotes health and fitness.

“We want people to have fun, it’s an all-around fun and exciting place,” said Minson. “Employees even come in on their day off to jump around.”

As well as hosting corporate events and dodge ball tournaments, Jumpstreet hosts birthday parties with the possibility of pizza, and cake from Dairy Queen.

Weekend and holiday prices are $10 for the first hour and $6 for each additional hour. Specials are offered on Monday Madness and Wild Wednesdays for $8 for the first hour and $6 for each additional hour. Ten Buck Tuesdays are also a deal at $10 for two hours. Discounted prices are available on Fridays for teen night and for children 7 and younger.
