The Diamondbacks traded two minor leaguers to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday in exchange for reliever Aaron Heilman.
The Diamondbacks gave up left-handed pitcher Scott Maine and infielder Ryne White for the 31-year-old Heilman, a right-hander who had a 4-4 record with one save and a 4.11 ERA in 70 relief appearances for the Cubs last season.
Heilman has a career record of 26-37 with 10 saves and a 4.22 ERA in 375 career games over parts of seven seasons with the Cubs and New York Mets.
Diamondbacks general manager Josh Byrnes says Heilman is a durable reliever who will add experience and stability to Arizona's bullpen.
The 24-year-old Maine pitched for Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno last season. He had a combined 4-5 record with seven saves and a 2.90 ERA in 48 relief appearances.
The 23-year-old White hit .266 with 18 doubles, six homers and 52 RBI in 116 games last season for Single-A Visalia.
