Man found dead inside Mesa apartment

Police are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man whose body was discovered inside an apartment early Sunday.
The man’s body was discovered inside a unit at the Country Club Verandas, 1415 N. Country Club Drive, late Sunday, but investigators have not released his cause of death pending results from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office and citing an ongoing investigation. Police described the death as suspicious.
The man’s body was discovered after a Spanish-speaking man called police from a pay phone at a convenience store or a gas station after 9 p.m. Sunday and said there was a dead body inside the apartment and hung up, according to Sgt. Ed Wessing, a spokesman for Mesa police.
