Wiretaps protect country

We older seniors could devote the rest of our lives to informing children and grandchildren about the stealth strategy used to destroy our culture and place our country in the unmanageable situation it is in today.

Most seniors have silently observed an anti-American/anti-Christian crusade develop from subtle propaganda directed at young people to “in-your-face” lies in the media and classrooms today.

Young, well-meaning liberals deserve to know far-left lawyers have waged a relentless battle to limit the ability of our intelligence and security agencies to enforce federal and state laws. It is a matter of public record that the FBI, CIA, the National Security Agency, military intelligence, and the IRS have all been challenged repeatedly since 1958 to prevent the use of wiretaps to gather information about foreign enemy agents.

Vital security measures to protect American citizens, including arrests of suspected terrorists, have been opposed as being an infringement of privacy. These rationalizations and far-left efforts to rid America of morality show a compelling mission to destroy our democracy and create a godless totalitarian state.

Sure, there is increasing risk of reprisals, but we can save future generations by defending the most lied-about nation in the world, the United States.

Numbers show Kyl was right

I recall that in a guest column (“Kyl Overlooks AZ Benefits of Stimulus,” Aug. 21), state Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix, called Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., to task for daring to criticize President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill as ineffective.

She claimed that he was out of touch and that “here in Arizona, we have proof that it is working.” Hmm. The White House’s own data now indicate that stimulus contracts awarded through September have saved or created a mere 657 jobs in our state, despite the Obama administration’s promises that it would create 70,000 jobs.

The fact is, some 77,300 jobs have been lost in the state since the stimulus was signed into law in February. Apparently, Kyl wasn’t the one who was out of touch. Sinema was, and she ought to be held to account for making exaggerated, partisan claims.

Left has no voice in Tribune

The Tribune has always leaned toward the right, but has taken this stance to new levels since President Barack Obama took office.

Almost every writer you use in the editorial and opinion pages is a right-wing extremist. Just like the Republican Party, they use lies, distorted facts and fear mongering in the pieces that they write.

The religious right will never find them out because they believe what their ministers tell them and don’t check the facts or form their own opinions. There’s a well-known term for these damaging distortions; it is called “swiftboating.”

If you take away lies and fear mongering, the conservatives are left with nothing to say.

It amazes me that after eight years of miserable failures, the right believes that it now has all the best answers. Why didn’t they present these ideas when they were in control? Possibly because they were off on some other agenda, the ones that have just about destroyed this great nation.

President George W. Bush took office with the smallest debt in years and left office with the largest deficits in the history of the nation. He grew government more than any president in history.

And now you want to blame all of the problems on Obama and his administration.

Maybe it’s time to keep your mouths shut and help those who care to rebuild the United States of America to its former grandeur.
