Gilbert Days events continue
The annual Gilbert Days celebration rolls on this week. The rodeo runs from Wednesday through Sunday at the Gilbert Rodeo Park, 1899 S. Val Vista Drive.
In addition to the rodeo events, the Gilbert Days Carnival will also be Friday through Sunday, with rides, food and more. Saturday night will feature a dance with a live band providing the music from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Gilbert Days run
Lace up your shoes and take a run or just join the crowd of spectators at the 25th annual Gilbert Days 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. The event is scheduled for Friday at Freestone Park, 1045 E. Juniper Road. Race day registration opens at 3:30 p.m. with the races beginning at 4:45 p.m.
Registration is $30 or $20 for those 12 and younger. The fee includes a T-shirt, participation ribbon and refreshments at the finish line.

Art show
The Gilbert Visual Art League will hold its seventh annual Fine Art Show through Dec. 5 at the Gilbert Historical Museum, 10 S. Gilbert Road. The show will display works by a variety of local artists and also features a special division for art by youths.
Admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children 5 to 12.

'Cinderella’
Both children and adults will enjoy the classic fairy tale featuring love, magic, evil stepsisters and glass slippers brought to life by the Great Arizona Puppet Theatre. The show will be presented at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E. Pecos Road.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children.

Animal story time
Children are invited to the Perry Branch Library, 1965 E. Queen Creek Road, for this event with stories, crafts and pets. Betty Welton from the Healing Hearts Animal Shelter will discuss the group and bring some adoptable animals along.

Explore the Riparian Preserve
Get back to nature with a family bird walk at the Riparian Preserve, 2757 E. Guadalupe Road. Learn about the numerous species of birds that call the preserve home on this educational tour of the park.
If you’re more interested in plants than animals, check out the gardens in the preserve with plant biologist Jennie Rambo.
Hear about how the preserve maintains a healthy and diverse environment. Learn how you can use similar techniques in your own home garden.
Both events are scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday.

'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’
The Hale Centre Theatre presents the musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” through Nov. 28.
This classic musical romantic comedy tells the tale of a woman’s attempt to civilize and marry off her numerous wild brothers-in-law.
The theater is located at 50 W. Page Ave. Ticket prices are $22 for matinees and $24 for evening shows.

Recreational classes available
Looking to get the kids out of the house? Interested in picking up a new skill?
Registration is open for the winter session of Gilbert recreational classes. Take a look at the wide variety of activities offered by the town at the Freestone Recreation Center, 1141 E. Guadalupe Road.
