ASU notes: Biceps injury limits Sullivan

A right biceps injury limited Danny Sullivan in practice on Tuesday, but a decision on which Arizona State quarterback starts at Oregon on Saturday still has not been made.
Freshman Brock Osweiler took the first-team snaps as Sullivan mainly handed off to running backs.
Sullivan had a bag of ice wrapped on his right arm for a portion of the practice. He suffered the injury when he took a helmet to the biceps against USC.
Coach Dennis Erickson said the injury will not affect who starts against the Ducks.
“It kind of depends on what Brock does in practice,” Erickson said.
Samson Szakacsy took second-string snaps. He has seen spot duty in goal-line situations the last few weeks and seems to be getting healthier. Szakacsy has been battling elbow trouble since his junior year of high school.
THIN AT CORNER
Cornerback Omar Bolden will miss the rest of the season with the troublesome knee injury that has kept him from playing since the Oct. 3 game against Oregon State.
Josh Jordan didn’t practice because of an ankle injury he suffered in practice last week.
Terell Carr has been suspended indefinitely for an off-the-field issue and will miss Saturday’s game.
It all adds up to a very thin cornerback group.
The only cornerbacks who practiced on Tuesday were Deveron Carr, Pierre Singfield and LeQuan Lewis. Deveron Carr took Singfield’s starting spot last week, but both are expected to start against Oregon. Lewis was temporarily tried at wide receiver earlier this season before moving back to cornerback.
WHERE’S THE BALL?
The defense practiced against a scout-team offense that did not use a football.
The message?
“They hide it so well you don’t know where it’s at,” Erickson said. “You’ve just got to cover everybody.”
A running back is being used at quarterback to simulate the speed of Oregon signal caller Jeremiah Masoli.
INJURY UPDATE
Starting tight end Dan Knapp suffered a concussion against USC and did not practice Tuesday. He might not be able to practice until Thursday, but he should play against Oregon, Erickson said.
