Pinal County is planning two mass H1N1 vaccination clinics this weekend, one of them in San Tan Valley near Queen Creek.
The county's health department expects to be able to vaccinate 5,000 residents at both the San Tan Valley and Casa Grande clinics on Saturday , according to a county press release. A third clinic on Nov. 19 in Mammothis expected to have 700 doses.
The clinics are intended to vaccinate pregnant women and people between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old. However, the county doesn't expect to turn anyone away who comes for the shot, unless the person has some kind of medical condition that would make administering the vaccine inadvisable.
To limit long lines, the county will have residents check in and receive colored wristbands that indicate a specific time to return for the shots. All family members must be present to get a wristband if they want the vaccine.
Vaccines won't be given to anyone who is already ill. The county advises parents of sick children to stay home or arrange for child care.
Also, no booster shots for children under 10 will be available at the clinic, only initial shots.
