The father of a woman wanted in a series of fraudulent credit card purchases in the East Valley turned her in Friday, according to Prescott Valley police.

Sgt. Brandon Bonnie, Prescott Valley police spokesman, said the family of Delores Jean Rakow, 40, tried to persuade her to surrender when they saw surveillance photos of her on television Thursday, but she refused.

"They were all just kind of sitting around with the family, and they saw her on the news," Bonnie said. "They apparently confronted her and said, 'Oh, what did you do?'"

Gilbert police issued a press release Thursday asking for the public's help in identifying a woman in surveillance photos.

According to Sgt. Mark Marino, Gilbert police spokesman, the woman in the photo made almost 50 purchases in June using a forged credit card in the East Valley, Prescott Valley and Mayer. Marino said the woman was using the name of a Norwell, Mass., woman.

The Massachusetts woman discovered the fraud when a collection agency called her on Sept. 29. She ran a credit check and found that her address had been changed to one in Gilbert.

Bonnie said Rakow left her father's house when he confronted her, so investigators alerted a local storage unit business to call if she showed up there, which she did.
