A 36-year-old woman who grabbed her 10-year-old daughter’s arm and used it to punch another girl on Wednesday is facing assault charges, Mesa police said.
Shannon Delahousie was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Ellsworth and Guadalupe roads.
Delahousie initially broke up a fight between the girls by grabbing another 10-year-old girl by the hair and throwing her against a school bus, police said. Delahousie then followed the girl and her brother home, yelling and screaming racial slurs at them, police said.
When the two children arrived home, Delahousie’s daughter started a fight with the girl again before two boys grabbed the girl and held her while Delahousie grabbed her daughter’s arm and punched the girl in the face several times with it, according to police.
Delahousie told officers she never touched the girl, and that she was innocent, but when officers questioned her daughter, she said her mother grabbed her hand and punched the other girl in the face with it, police said.
