It doesn't quite feel like November yet, not during the day anyway.
Record-breaking temperatures hit the Valley Tuesday, with temperatures at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport hitting 96 degrees, topping the previous record high of 94 degrees set in 1931.
In the East Valley, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport notched up to a high of 97 degrees at 3 p.m.
Mike Bruce, a meteorologist at the Phoenix office of the National Weather Service, said highs in east Mesa hit 98 degrees.
Bruce attributed the unusually hot weather to a ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere in Arizona and in the Southwest.
The high temperature recorded at Falcon Field Airport in northeast Mesa was 93 degrees at 3 p.m., with Chandler Municipal Airport touching 91 degrees. The high at Lost Dutchman State Park also went up to 91 degrees.
Don't expect much respite Wednesday either. The National Weather Service expects the high to reach 93 degrees. But after that, some respite is on the way. Thursday, the forecast calls for 91 degrees, and then there'll be a slow cooling down through the rest of the week, with highs in the mid-80s. Next week could stay in the 70s, Bruce said.
