A former Higley High School teacher was arrested Thursday evening after Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies say they found more than 50 sexually graphic images of children under age 13 on a computer.
Special report: Reading, writing and wrongdoing
Alfonso Padilla, 36, was arrested at Coolidge High School, 800 W. Northern Ave., where he is employed as a computer teacher. According to a press release, Padilla admitted during an interview with deputies that he was previously terminated from Higley High School about three years ago for inappropriate conduct with a minor through the use of a computer. Padilla was arrested on probable cause of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a class two felony.
The press release states that deputies received Padilla’s computer from a concerned source that advised them of what he found on the computer. Padilla is being held in the county jail on a $63,000 bond.
