Renovations at Chandler Center for the Arts aren’t standing in the way of a good time.

The venue, which is undergoing an overhaul expected to be completed by May 2010, has announced its fall, winter and spring lineup of concerts, plays and other performances. Highlights include:

• Country music veteran and pop crossover artist Ronnie Millsap (March 6, 2010).

• Spanish entertainer Charo (Feb. 13, 2010).

• Grammy-winning Western swing band Asleep at the Wheel (Jan. 30, 2010).

• Former “American Idol” (Season Four) contestant Bo Bice (Oct. 17, 2009).

• A portrait of George and Ira Gershwin, brothers who revolutionized popular music in the early 20th century, with actor Robert Picardo, whose TV credits include “Star Trek: Voyager,” “The Wonder Years” and “China Beach.” (Jan. 10, 2010).

• Comical dinner theater hit “Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding,” the longest-running show in off-Broadway history (March 23-28, 2010).

In addition, the center will host several free concerts this August and September, including performances by Flamenco guitarist Chris Burton Jácome; East Valley barbershop-style choir and quartets The Lamplighters; longtime Arizona jazz vocalist Nancy Gee; and a Jazz in AZ quartet that puts on an interactive, learn-as-you-go concert for families. The free summer concerts are first-come, first-served, and there are 350 seats available for each show.

While construction remains under way at the center, smaller performances will be held in the facility’s Bogle Theater, while larger acts will take place off-site at Higley Center for the Performing Arts in Gilbert.

A complete schedule of shows and ticket prices are available at www.chandlercenter.org. Chandler Center for the Arts is at 250 N. Arizona Ave.
