Monsoon Madness is returning to Queen Creek in all its muddy glory on Saturday.

The event, which is in its seventh year, features a variety of muddy and watery activities to keep people cool in the summer heat.

Old favorites like the Monsoon MudSlide, a 100-foot soapy slide, inflatable water slides and a water play zone for small kids will be back.

Monsoon Madness enthusiasts can also expect some new activities, including a spray zone to cool off.

The town is also expanding its Mad Mud Volleyball tournament, opening two courts instead of one this year to accommodate more teams.

Sixteen teams signed up this year, more than twice the seven in last year’s tournament, program supervisor Adam Robinson said in an e-mail.

Last year, 2,100 people attended the event.
