2 basketball camps canceled; others offered
The Higley Unified School District Recreation Basketball Camps at Chaparral and San Tan elementary schools have been canceled this week.
Basketball camps still will be offered at Cortina and Coronado elementary schools at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Students registered to attend a basketball camp at Chaparral or San Tan can choose to attend the camp at Cortina or Coronado.
Parents can still register their child online to participate, at www.husd.org. Basketball camps will also be held during the weeks of July 13 and July 20.
Church to hold services at Chaparral
Rock Point Church will hold services at Chaparral Elementary School starting today.
Rock Point Church's building is under renovation. The church has a large congregation and will use all of the available parking spaces at the school, as well as possibly using public side streets, said Chaparral Principal Jessica Edgar.
Higley High open for volleyball
Higley Unified School District high school students who enjoy playing volleyball can continue playing this summer during the school's open gym times in July.
Interested boys and girls can come to the school's main gym from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, July 14, 16, 23 and 24, at Higley High, 4068 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert.
The open gym is sponsored by the Higley Boys and Girls Volleyball Program, and is available to any Higley student in grades seventh through 12th who are currently enrolled in the district.

Gilbert elementary, junior high enrollment
Parents in the Gilbert Unified School District can begin enrolling their elementary and junior high students for the 2009-10 school year Monday through July 23. Registration is available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Highland Park Elementary School, 230 N. Cole Drive, Gilbert.

Gilbert high schools will be open throughout the summer for registration. All Gilbert school offices will reopen on July 27.
