Wild West water games

Kids can try their hand Monday at aiming better than a tarantula and retaining more water than a tortoise in a morning of desert-themed water games.

Activities start at 10 a.m. at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park Visitor Center, 6533 W. Phillips Road, which is located east of Thompson Road off the Hunt Highway in Pinal County. Bring a towel, because you will get wet.

 'Technicolor Dreamcoat' show

Queen Creek Community Theatre at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center will present its last performance of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on Monday.

This musical, with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will send your feet tapping and your heart soaring in the retelling of the biblical story.

The Queen Creek Performing Arts Center is at 22149 E. Ocotillo Road on the campus of Queen Creek High School.

Ticket prices are $11 for children and $15 for adults.

Video and board game day for teens

The Queen Creek Branch Library is hosting a teen gaming day Tuesday.

Like gaming? Want to try out some games, test your skills, and meet other teens? Come to the library for gaming fun with Guitar Hero, Wii sports games, Mario Kart and board games.

The event runs from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Queen Creek Branch Library's Zane Grey Community Room, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road. Youth ages 12 to 18 are welcome.

Fourth of July Fireworks

Queen Creek's annual Fourth of July fireworks show is returning to Schnepf Farms on Saturday.

Hay rides, pony rides, water slides and other activities will be available starting at 5 p.m., with the fireworks starting at 9 p.m. at the farm, 24810 S. Rittenhouse Road, Queen Creek.

The show is produced by the Kiwanis Club of Queen Creek. All money raised will go to the charities the Kiwanis supports.

Cost is $10 per carload, plus $10 per wristband for all kids' activities. No large coolers are allowed.

Arizona ClassicTeam Roping

Arizona Classic Team Roping Summer of 2009 No. 10 Buckle Roping will run every Friday through Sept. 28.

A current United States Team Roping Championships card is needed to enter the competition. Fees are $25 per person, and you may enter eight times.

Youth Center summer programs

From video game tournaments and arts and crafts to field trips and an ice skating rink, Queen Creek's Youth and Teen Center has a number of activities this summer.

Free drop-in programs are available at the center.

Activities, including games, fitness sessions and more, are available at various times of the day for children who have filled out a registration card for the program.

The center is also setting up summer field trips, which cost $12 to $20 depending on the location. Registration opens for each field trip two weeks before the trip.

Recreation classes offered

Classes in dance, art, yoga, tai chi, self-defense and more are available at Queen Creek's Library Recreation Annex this summer.

Classes are available for all ages from preschoolers through seniors. Cost and class times depend on the individual course, although most courses for the summer session begin between June 30 and July 7.

Sports day camps

The Barney Family Sports Complex still has room in two of its summer sports clinics for youth and teens.

A few spots are left in a soccer camp that starts this week and a volleyball camp that runs July 13-16.

Five days worth of the three-hour soccer sessions cost $165 for the week, while four days of volleyball cost $100.
