Toddler on life support; man arrested

A 2½-year-old Chandler girl is hospitalized with multiple skull fractures and is on life support after police responded to a 911 call and discovered her unresponsive in the family’s residence.

Jeremias Aguilar, 21, a live-in boyfriend of the girl’s mother, was arrested about 4 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of child abuse in connection to the incident at the family’s residence in the 200 block of North Fresno Street, according to Chandler police.
Aguilar is being held in a Maricopa County jail, and the girl’s mother, Josefa Talavara, 20, who made the 911 call, remains under investigation as investigators look into abuse of the child, police said.
The girl was taken to a nearby hospital and later flown by helicopter to a trauma center, police said.
