State treasurer's wife dies after giving birth

The wife of state Treasurer Dean Martin has died due to complications from childbirth, according to a news release issued by Martin's office.
Kerry Martin, 34, died late Monday night. Austin Michael Martin was born at 7:31 p.m. Monday, weighing eight pounds and measuring 21.5 inches in length. Austin remains in grave condition, the news release said.
Martin is with his son, and has asked the public to pray for Austin, according to the release.
The Martins were married for 13 years.
In addition to her husband, Kerry Martin is survived by her father Edward Mabey, her aunt Phyllis Pulice, her sister Tracy Smitherman, her brother John Mabey, and a niece and two nephews, the release said. Funeral arrangements are pending.
