Pro boxer Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter died Tuesday after an accidental strangling in a central Phoenix home.

Exodus Tyson was discovered hanging from a cord attached to a treadmill about 10:30 a.m. Monday, police said. Police on Tuesday said the child was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix.

"Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there's a cord that hangs under the console - it's kind of a loop," police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill said. "Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it."

Exodus' 7-year-old brother found her and then their mother ran into the room to cut her down before starting CPR. Police responding to the accident in the 6100 block of North 10th Avenue then took over CPR before a fire crew transported Exodus to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.

"Initial information developed (Monday) from officers, initial interviews and a preliminary examination of the scene indicate this was a tragic accident," Hill said.

Tyson was in Las Vegas and immediately returned upon being notified, police said. KNXV-TV (Channel 15) reported he arrived at St. Joseph's Hospital in a cab but did not comment before entering the hospital.

Tyson is the father of both children, but he does not live at the house.
