Hear ye, hear ye: If you love Legos, the Arizona Science Center is the place to be this summer. An exhibit of the colorful plastic bricks opens Sunday at the hands-on science museum, and it's all about castles.

"I can't think of anyone who doesn't like Legos or castles, so to combine the two is spectacular," says museum spokeswoman Kristin Priscella. "We are anticipating it's going to be really popular. We've had a hard time keeping the kids (who are visiting Arizona Science Center) out of the exhibit space the past few days."

Dubbed "Lego Castle Adventure," it features life-size Lego sculptures of a knight and dragon and scaled-down replicas of several real-life castles in Germany, England and Ireland. Presented in intricate detail, complete with tiny peasants carrying loaves of bread, the displays aim to teach visitors about castle life and construction.

Families can build their own castles and topiary gardens in construction zones for three age groups, each stocked with Legos in age-appropriate sizes. Children can even test their engineering skills by virtually building a castle wall via a computer program and firing a big plastic catapult at it.

Other attractions include a throne room, treasure room and lookout tower, and a wall where kids can create their own fairy tales. Children can also dress up as princes, princesses, knights or dragons with ready-made costumes and joust using foam-rubber lances and soft targets.

"This exhibit is the epitome of what the Science Center is: hands-on, immersive, fun, and you're learning something at the same time," says Priscella. "It's something everyone in the family can really enjoy because Legos are a toy and a tool for all ages. They're timeless."
