Free screening for ASU student's film

An ASU student who co-wrote a film that stars noted character actor Luis Guzman ("Anger Management," "Carlito's Way," "Boogie Nights") and was produced by Academy Award-winning actor Benico del Toro ("Che," "Sin City," "Traffic") is bringing the movie to the East Valley for a free public screening.
"Maldeamores," a 2007 film by Arizona State University Herberger College School of Theatre and Film student Jorge Gonzalez, will be shown 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lyceum Theatre, 901 S. Forest Mall on ASU's Main Campus in Tempe.
A dark comedy about the irrational and impassioned turns we take for love, "Maldeamores" - or lovesickness - took the Audience Choice Award at the Chicago Film Festival and was an official selection at the Tribeca Film Festival. The 90-minute movie follows the romantic maladies of a child, a man who can't grasp rejection and an elderly couple in Puerto Rico.
Gonzalez will be available after the screening to discuss the movie and answer questions. He is earning his doctorate at the university.
