You can’t judge whether Anquan Boldin will play by his words, or even the words of coach Ken Whisenhunt.
Cardinals wide receiver Boldin injured
But the tone of those words seems to say: The football gods will have to smile brightly on game day for Boldin’s left hamstring to have healed enough to play.
Both Boldin and Whisenhunt sounded extremely cautious about his chances.
“Anquan is a special player,” Whisenshunt said. “If we don’t have him, that certainly hurts us to some degree.
“The thing we do have going for us is we have played without him on occasions this year. More important, we were successful.”
The Cardinals were 3-1 without him this season.
Boldin said, “I’m not sure at this point” whether he’ll play.
“I’m just taking it a day at a time, trying to do whatever I can to get it better. I’m trying to strengthen it. I’m trying to get the knot out. It’s tight at this point.”
Boldin said he injured the hamstring at about the 10-yard line on his 71-yard touchdown catch last Saturday vs. Atlanta.
Boldin and tight end Ben Patrick, who has a sore knee, did not practice Wednesday.
Defensive end/linebacker Travis LaBoy had a limited practice.
For the Panthers, center Geoff Hangartner (ankle) did not practice.
