Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies have identified the victims in a murder-suicide investigation that happened Tuesday morning at a home in the northeast Valley, near 61st Street near Dixileta Drive.
Deputies identified the deceased as Mary Raver, 40, and Jim Fraser, 49. Raver, who was visiting from out of state, was found dead outside the home and Fraser was found dead inside the house.
Deputies received a call about 4 a.m. reporting gunfire at the home in the 6100 block of East Lowden Drive on unincorporated county land near Scottsdale. When deputies arrived, they found Raver who appeared to be killed by gunshot wounds outside the home.
An extremely intoxicated and hysterical woman who said she was a witness to the shooting met deputies who responded to the scene. At that point, deputies believed a shooter was loose, so they called in a helicopter unit, bomb squad and SWAT crews to assist in the search, said Lt. Brian Lee, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Authorities entered the home when back-up arrived and discovered Fraser inside the home. Fraser, a suspect in the shooting, also appeared to be killed by gunshot wounds.
The witness, a woman, also was an out-of-state resident, deputies said.
