Valley fans of “Antiques Roadshow” can start looking around their house for those unusual and rare treasures, because the popular PBS antiques appraisal show is coming to Phoenix Aug. 1.
Fans wanting a free appraisal and a chance to be at the August event, and possibly on the television show, can visit pbs.org/antiques after today’s 8 p.m. season premiere to apply for the free tickets.
Admission is free to the event, but tickets are required and must be obtained in advance. The location of the taping will be announced in March.
“Antiques Roadshow” announced its summer 2009 tour destinations today , and Phoenix was chosen as one of six cities the traveling show will visit. It’s the first visit to the Valley in more than a decade.
The tour will feature top appraisers offering the public free evaluations of antiques and collectibles, often revealing surprising history and value of the items.
The antiques show goes on tour to six cities across the country every June, July and August. The show will hold an appraisal event and tape footage for the 2010 lineup of shows, the 14th broadcast season on PBS.
“Antiques Roadshow” will also visit Atlantic City, N.J. on June 6; Raleigh, N.C., June 27; Madison, Wis., July 11; Denver, Colo., July 25; and end the tour in San Jose, Calif., on Aug. 15.
The Antiques Roadshow Furniture Roundup is also looking for large pieces of furniture within 50 miles of Phoenix.
