An Mesa man was arrested on aggravated assault of a police officer and underage consumption early today after he shoved a Mesa police officer responding to a party in the 2300 block of West Jacinto Avenue. When police arrived to the scene at 1 a.m., an intoxicated man approached them and admitted to being underage. He did not respond to the officer's commands and shoved the officer twice, once as the police officer was reaching for his Taser. After a 1/8 mile pursuit, the man was caught and then detained without further incident. The officer received minor injuries to his knee and hands.
