Police now consider the death of a 25-year-old ASU student who was found in his burning home Dec. 23 a homicide.
“He was shot to death,” said detective David Ramer, a Chandler police spokesman.
Ramer said investigators also suspect the fire was an arson.
Neighbors reported hearing loud pounding and possible gunshots before firefighters arrived at the home of Zachary B. Rowe in the 1200 block of West Gail Drive, near the intersection of Ray and Alma School roads.
Rowe’s dog also died.
Ramer had no further details on the investigation.
“They’re looking at different things,” Ramer said.
