The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office continued its employer’s sanction investigation into Mesa’s Golfland Sunsplash by netting at least two arrests, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives, who were conducting follow-up surveillance on seven homes in Mesa, arrested the two people on suspicion of identity theft and forgery charges. Other illegal immigrants also were found inside the homes, but a specific number was not immediately available, according to the sheriff’s office.

MCSO began investigating Golfland Sunsplash, 155 W. Hampton Ave., for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants, and in June, arrested nine of its employees on suspicion of identity theft, and one was arrested for allegedly working in the U.S. illegally, according to the sheriff’s office.

Golfland Sunsplash was one of 12 employer sanctions investigations launched by MCSO, and so far, 159 people have been arrested, including 87 on ID theft and forgery charges, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is ongoing into whether the water park’s and golf course’s management, Golfland Entertainment, violated the employer’s sanctions act.
