Thanksgiving came early for Stephanie and Christian Nielson.
The Nielsons, Mesa parents of four young children, were critically injured in a private plane crash in August.

This week, Stephanie was transferred to the burn unit at the University of Utah, said Reachel Bagley, Nie Recovery Fundraising coordinator and close friend of the family.
It is there that Stephanie’s sisters have been caring for their children since the crash. Stephanie grew up in Utah.
And it is there she will continue her recovery from burns that cover 80 percent of her body.
Stephanie has not seen her children yet. “It’s all baby steps, one day at a time,” Bagley said. But the move could make that possible sooner than later.
Christian left Arizona Burn Center weeks ago and has been recovering at his parents’ home in Mesa. Until Wednesday, Stephanie was there being cared for by doctors and nurses who have watched her recovery around-the-clock.
“We were so surprised she was able to go to Utah as quickly as she was able to,” Bagley said. “She’s had so many people pulling behind her. I think that’s made such a big difference in her recovery.”
Stephanie’s story has become known worldwide as fans of her blog, The Nie Nie Dialogues, rallied behind her and Christian and started fundraising to help with their medical costs.
One of Stephanie sisters, Utah resident Courtney Kendrick, keeps her own blog site, blog.cjanerun.com. This week, she reported about her sister’s transfer and the family’s plan.
“She wants to come home to a new life with her husband and her children,” Kendrick wrote in her blog. “The mountains have always given her dual strength. Her body climbs them, her spirit cherishes them. And we, her family, her mother, her loyal Y mountain can’t wait for her to come.”
