Elizabeth Livesay, 26, is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a 16-year-old girl numerous times at Livesay’s Gilbert home between June and August of this year, according to a release from the agency.
Livesay has been placed on paid leave from Carson Junior High School in Mesa where she teaches special education classes. She taught special education at a Phoenix school for two years before she was hired at the Mesa school in 2007.
Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler said Livesay told a counselor that she was having sexual relations with a minor. The 16-year-old girl is not her student and the two met through church, the release stated.
