Mesa police announced Thursday the arrest of a man in Tucson in connection with a weekend shooting at an East Valley night club that left one man dead and two injured.
Police said Christian C. Garcia was arrested Wednesday as he was attempting to cross the border into Mexico. Authorities did not release details of how they were able to track Garci to Tucson, but the shooting was described as public with numerous witnesses.
Det. Ed Wessing, a police spokesman, said Garcia was returned to Mesa where he was interviewed about the shooting. He said Garcia admitted that he was the person who fired the shots resulting in the death of Christian Gonzalez, and that injured two other occupants of a vehicle.
Wessing said Garcia told police that the shooting happened after an altercation earlier inside of Club Cabo, located near Country Club and Main Street in Mesa.
Garcia faces one count of first degree murder and four counts of aggravated assault, Wessing said.
No further information was made available late Thursday
