Scottsdale will celebrate global GIS Day by displaying maps featuring the city's use of the technology 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the One Civic Center Building's atrium, 7447 E. Indian School Road, city officials announced.

GIS, which stands for Geographic Information Systems, is a computer technology that integrates all types of information based on geographic location for the purpose of query, analysis, management and map generation.

Former candidate, fitness client on CNN

Scottsdale fitness trainer and former City Council and mayoral candidate Bill Crawford will appear Tuesday on CNN in a segment featuring his client Karen Daniel, who lost 175 pounds, Crawford announced Friday in a statement.

The program will be seen at approximately 6:30 a.m. on CNN's "American Morning" program, seen in Scottsdale on Cox Cable Channel 36.

It will also be seen starting Nov. 23 on CNN.com's "Fit Nation" page.

Crawford and Daniel will be at CNN's New York studios for the Fit Nation Summit on Tuesday while the segment is broadcast.
