Police arrested a man Wednesday suspected of trying to sexually assault a woman in Tempe.

Shane Tyler Johnson, 35, entered a home at Rural and Broadway roads and removed the clothing of a woman in her bed Monday evening, Tempe police reported.

During the struggle that followed, the victim cut Johnson with a sword and Johnson fled, police said.

The victim suffered minor physical injuries.

Earlier in the day, police said, Johnson took cash from a business in the 1700 block of South Rural Road.

He had remained in the building after the office had closed its doors for the day, police said.

Johnson was arrested in the 1800 block of South Jentilly Lane on Wednesday morning after police were called to the neighborhood about a possible prowler.

Using surveillance footage from the burglary, police connected Johnson to Monday's crime scenes.

He booked into Tempe City Jail on suspicion of attempted sexual assault and burglary.
