Anthem: Daisy Mountain Veterans Day Parade and Family Picnic with picnic and activities. 10 a.m. Saturday. Gavilan Peak Parkway softball field across from Venture Court at noon. Parade starts at Boulder Creek High School, goes down Gavilan Peak Parkway, and ends at the community center. Free. (623) 551-9905.

Chandler: The Salt River Brass annual tribute to America's veterans features the music of John Philip Sousa and other composers. 3 p.m. Sunday. Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. $15-$20. (480) 782-2680.

Gilbert: Mesquite High School Band will perform patriotic music. A complimentary lunch will be served. 11 a.m. Monday. Gilbert Municipal Center, 50 E. Civic Center Drive. Free. (480) 503-6871.

Mesa: Veterans Day Parade features high school ROTC exhibition drilling, displays including antique military vehicles, as well as a patriotic speech by West Point graduate Bill Montgomery and a "Celebrate America" dance performance from Totality Musical Dance Theatre at Mesa Arts Center. 11 a.m. Tuesday. The parade route will be down Center Street from University Drive to West First Avenue, then west on First Avenue ending at Macdonald. (480) 664-1604

Scottsdale: There will be a presentation of colors with the national anthem and featured speakers Gov. Janet Napolitano and Howard Lien, founder of the Arizona division of Sentinels of Freedom. 3 p.m. Tuesday. McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale. Free. Avondale: Avondale, in partnership with the American Legion Crandall Palmer Post 61 and the VFW Pat Tillman Memorial Post 40, will honor America's veterans featuring Agua Fria High School District ROTC Color Guard, a flyover from Luke Air Force Base and a flag-folding ceremony. Peoria: Veterans Day 8K Run and Walk. 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. check-in, 7:30 a.m. fun walk, 8 a.m. free pancake breakfast with recognition ceremony for veterans following.
