An Arizona Department of Corrections officer was shot and killed in what Buckeye police believe was a carjacking.

The victim is identified as 28-year-old Bradley Jay Gerrard.

Police say the killing happened late Saturday near Gerrard's home.

A passer-by found Gerrard's body just after midnight Sunday in a median.

Officers later found Gerrard's partially burned vehicle several miles away.

Buckeye police interim Cmdr. Phil Harris says police are processing both scenes for evidence. Police have no potential suspects.

Gerrard was a corrections officer for four years working at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis, near Buckeye.

Police have not found any evidence linking Gerrard's slaying to his work with DOC.
