A new Web site that offers a wide range of information about automobiles - particularly auto repair shops in the Valley - is making its debut on the Internet.
The site is the brainchild of several East Valley businessmen who have combined their experiences in automotive and computer programing. It's called GarageFly.com.
"We believe we're the only site that offers so much information dealing with automobiles," said Jan James, director of marketing. The company is headquartered at 1444 W. 10th Place in Tempe.
The name of the new company is symbolic of the cliché that a "fly on the wall hears everything," according to James. Its logo resembles an auto with doors open that, at a quick glance, looks like a fly.
The Web site's primary goal is to provide visitors with information about more than 130 listed auto repair and body shops in the Valley and Tucson area. The owners are interviewed and their shops examined before they pay a fee to be listed on the Web site.
In addition to the recommended shops, visitors can read customer reviews and evaluations of each listed shop, as well as find a garage nearby by using a ZIP code-based "Find a Shop" locator.
"Nearly three-quarters of consumers take customer care reviews, reputation, customer service and quality into consideration when making purchase decisions," James said. "Bringing your car in for repairs can be a very complex or frustrating experience. We provide visitors with the information they need to navigate the process and make sound decisions."
Besides the auto repair data, the site also provides information about scam alerts, tips for maintaining a vehicle, how to deal with accidents, child-seat safety, insurance and how to find the lowest gas prices in the Valley and state.
